A Changing Environment

A few of the ways Climate Change impacts Minnesota:

 

  • WARMING WINTERS:  Continued loss of cold extremes and dramatic warming of coldest conditions.

  • EXTREME RAINFALL:  Continued increase in frequency and magnitude of extreme events; unprecedented flash-floods    (Over the past 30 years, we have seen increased rainfall from April – June.*)

  • HEAT WAVES:  More hot days with increases in severity, coverage and duration.

​​

  • DROUGHT:  More days between precipitation events, leading to increased drought severity, coverage and duration.
